posted (September 2, 2019)

And, in another big September celebrations event, San Ignacio's Kimberley Santos was named Queen of the Bay at the Bliss Institute of the Performing Arts on Saturday night.

Santos's crowning is historic as the last Queen of the Bay who hailed from the Twin Towns was Yolanda Cruz in 1965. Kimberley, who was crowned in a sparkling red dress, is a proud graduate of Sacred Heart College and is now pursuing her Bachelor's Degree in English Education at the University of Belize. She participated in the pageant under a platform that advocates for the "Zero Use of Plastics and Styrofoam" in her community.

Seven delegates from across the country vied for the title. Sabrina Coleman of Stann Creek was named first Runner up and Kiah Pastor From Belmopan second runner up.
