Saldivar Shows Military Muscle, If Not Quite Might
posted (September 13, 2019)
Today the Ministry of National Security held its third annual security forces parade in Belmopan. Perhaps fashioned off those goose-stepping military parades we've see in North Korea - today's event in Belmopan wasn't quite as regimented or as imperious, but it brought a little life to the capital on a Friday evening.

And it provided a high profile showcase for the man who would want to be leader, John Saldivar. He's been flexing his political muscle recently and said today was a chance for the forces to showcase themselves:

Hon. John Saldivar, Minister of National Security
"Very proud of what we have established within our security forces, our police department, coast guard and the BDF and very happy to be able to display this to our nation, so that they would know the state of readiness that we have our forces in to defend Belize and enforce the laws."

Reporter
"This is not the full muscles being displayed out here today?"

Hon. John Saldivar
"Certainly not, but a portion of it so that people could get an idea of what we have in our security forces."

Before the parade, the security forces would use the military tattoo as their September showcase.
