Can Superman Safeguard His Delegates?
posted (September 17, 2019)
And while Wilfred is waffling, Phillip Willoughby has already pitched in his lot with the Saldivar camp. It's a dramatic defection - because he was thought to be all-in with Faber.

And while it was widely speculated that Faber would strike back at Willoughby with the political equivalent of a nuclear warhead, instead he has posted a conciliatory message on Facebook, saying, quote, "Mr Willougby has indicated to the world via his social media that he will not be supporting me in the upcoming leadership convention. This is his right. I appreciate Phillip's honesty, even if it is only just finally coming and I reassure him now that where there is a personal resource of mine or the UDP that he can utilize for his bid in Port Loyola to secure victory for our beloved UDP, it is always available."

And Faber is likely keeping a cordial tone because he will surely try to snipe off a few, or many of Willoughby's 16 delegates. Yesterday we asked the first time standard bearer how he hopes to keep those delegates close:

Jules Vasquez, reporter
"While you may choose Mr. Saldivar, your delegates are their own people."

Phillip Willoughby, UDP Std. Bearer, Port Loyola
"Well, I've spoken with them. I've shared with them my position. If I am saying I would appreciate us going in the direction of supporting John, of course I would want my delegates or who I select will vote John. Simple math."

Jules Vasquez, reporter
"Do you have that kind of power over your delegates?"

Phillip Willoughby
"I get to choose who they will be and I will ensure it goes that way. So if you think this is the 4th quarter and its Michael Jordan will show up with the ball to score the winning shot, phillip Willoughby will have the ball - superman will have the ball. Philip Willoughby will make that call. Trust me."

And Superman may have the ball, does he have an office?

In his Facebook post, Faber confirmed that he set aside the office for the use of the driving mothers group known as "One Struggle". He says, quote, "That group appealed to me for assistance and requested that I help them to find an office....The space that I came up with and allotted to the group was the old sports council offices at the Rogers Stadium. Let me state categorically that I have never given permission for such an office space to be used as a political headquarters for my colleague Phillip Willoughby." End quote.
