Strange Fruit In Citrus Drought

One month ago, we told you how the drought in the north was decimating corn crops.

Well, it has also affected citrus in the south. Nikita Usher form the Chamber switched hats to his day job, which is Chief Administrator at Citrus Products of Belize Limited. He told us the drought has produced smaller oranges:…

The Statistical Institute of Belize reports that "in the first 7 months of 2019 Earnings from citrus exports fell substantially by 30 percent or $16.8 million, from $55.8 million in 2018 to $39 million in 2019, due to decreased sales of orange concentrate and orange oil."
