Adamir’s Alleged Killer Charged
posted (September 19, 2019)

Last night we told you that there had been a confession in the Adamir Choc murder case. Today 22 year old Nelson Espinoza was arraigned for her murder.

19 year old Choc disappeared on the 10th of September but her body was only found days later on the 14th. And 5 days later, police have their killer.

We saw him today in Belmopan - and the car and motorbike that factored into her death.  Here's the story:

This is the car that police believe took Adamir Choc to her death on the morning of September 10th. The motorbike is also a key piece of evidence - the alleged killer is believed to have arrived at the club own the motorbike.

And the killer is allegedly 22 year old Nelson Espinosa from Harmonyville - seen here in the striped green shirt.  He was taken to court today to be arraigned for murder.

Adamir’s mother Elvira Choc arrived at the courthouse a little after he left:

Elvira Choc - Mother of deceased
"I wanted to come see him earlier to see his face because I wanted to ask him what my daughter did to him, that he took my daughter's life. If my daughter would have owed him something, he should have come and tell me and maybe I can sell everything that I have and give him what he want but not my daughter life because you cannot bring it back."

Reporter
"Tell us how you felt after finding out that police made some progress and even more so made an arrest in your daughter's case?"

Elvira Choc
"Well I cannot say I'm happy because they left me with my heart broken but at least for my country and for my people, at least we are going to get justice and I hope it continue to be justice because it’s not fair for us just to see his face climbing up and then after a few months or few years, he comes out like free. That is not fair for us, it's not fair for me, it's not fair for my family. All I want is justice and that's it. I can't ask nothing more because nothing can replace my child back."

Police would not give much details on how Adamir ended up in his car that night - and dead a few hours later:

Reporter
"Is there any connection between the victim and the suspect?"

ACP Joseph Myvette - Head, NCIB
"Yes, to some extent."

Reporter
"Could you talk to how the investigation led to the detention of Mr. Espinosa?"

ACP Joseph Myvette
"Well it was diligent investigation; I'm not going to go into details of the investigation to tell you how we arrived at that."

Reporter
"This morning police told us that Espinosa was somewhat known to your daughter. How is that?"

Elvira Choc
"Honestly in my heart, I don't know anything about him."

And while their connection is a mystery to the mother and the media - police say they have the right man

Chester Williams - Commissioner of Police
"It is not as what some people are trying to say on social media that is just to calm down the public. We met with the mother yesterday and some of her friends that she brought with her, we took them through the evidence that we have and give them the assurance that the police is working and they were satisfied with what they say and in terms of what we have. So they know, that is not a statistical arrest as some may want to say."

And for this mother, it had better not be:

Elvira Choc
"I only wanted to see his face but I'm trying to relax home because I didn't know how I would control myself when I'm in front of him."

Espinoza was remanded and returns to court on December 18th.
