PSU Gets 30 Days Notice To Leave Hilltop HQ
posted (September 30, 2019)
The Public Service Union of Belize has been given a month to vacate its Hilltop national headquarters. A letter sent on Thursday from the attorney for Simplex Design Company - which bought the property from the Belmopan City Council in late 2018. The letter tells the Union that it has until October 31st to move out.

The letter notes that the union has announced on air that it is moving - but, the attorney adds, quote, "(you) have since failed to do so in a timely manner". So the letter is basically telling to get gone, quickly. If they don't, the attorney, Steve Perrera tells Union President Gerald Henry that he will take out an eviction order.

This is the unhappy end to a long back and forth between the union and the political directorate - where undertakings were given from offices as high as the Prime Minister to get the property back for the PSU - but, all strategies failed, and it seems, this ship has sailed.
