Walking For Sickle Cell
posted (October 1, 2019)
Many Belizeans are living with sickle cell disease. It is hardest for children as the symptoms are severe and can lead to death. It is a serious illness and PG resident Rockel Romero continues to raise awareness through various community activities and through her sickle cell association facebook page. On Saturday Romero organized a walk in Punta Gorda town. Last year she held a similar event with a balloon release. But while she continues hosting these initiatives, she still has to look after her sick son, Orlando. Right now he is out of medication and is in desperate need to go to Merida for proper treatment. Romero needs to raise $3,500 Belize dollars to take him to Merida so if you would like to help Romero you can call her at 634-0749. She also has a GoFund me page called My son living with sickle cell disease.
