PSU’s Problems Too Big For PM to Solve
posted (October 2, 2019)
We also asked the Prime Minister about the situation with the Public Service Union. As we've told you the country's biggest union has been given 30 days to vacate the hilltop property which is home to its national headquarters. The Belmopan City Council sold sold the property to a mystery company called Simplex. At the time of the sale a year ago, there was great hue and cry, and the Prime Minister himself said he would intercede, but, it never worked out. Now the union concedes that it has to move on - hoping for at least some kind of payout for what it calls equitable interest.

The PM says the best he can do is offer to help with another piece of land:...

Rt. Hon. Dean Barrow - Prime Minister
"In terms of trying to find another land for the PSU, Government would be more than inclined to try and help, and I think that's all I can say, with respect to the legal wrangling, the legal contentiousness, I better leave that alone."

Steve Perrera, who is the attorney for SIMPLEX today told us that he's not sure what they mean by "equitable interest". But he will reach out to the union and, quote, "Hopefully it is something that can be discussed."
