Jail For Retired Pistol-Packing Pilot

He says he is a businessman and retired pilot and and, tonight, 32 year old Ediberto Javier Romero is in jail - on remand for allegedly shooting a man in the shoulder.

It happened at Daddy's Rock Night Club on San Pedro on Sunday night when Romero had a misunderstanding with bartender Glenford Alex Dominguez. That led to a some shoving, and it ended when Romero allegedly pulled a firearm and shot Dominguez right in the club. Fortunately, the injury was not life threatening.

- and today, Romero was brought in from San Pedro to the Belize city Magistrate's Court to face charges. He appeared before Senior Magistrate, Aretha Ford in Court #2 where he was represented by attorney, Leeroy Banner. Senior Magistrate Ford read him four counts, one count of attempted murder, one count of use of deadly means of harm dangerous harm and discharging a firearm in a public place.

Because these are firearm offenses, he was denied bail and remanded to the Belize Central Prison until December 4, 2019. His next court appearance will be in San Pedro.

His Attorney is urgently preparing a bail application and he is expected to appear in the Supreme Court as early as this Friday asking for Supreme Court bail.
