Minister Hulse also confirmed reports that Diana Locke, the Director of Immigration, is leaving the Department.
Hulse said that she has reached the retirement age for public servants:

"Well, she comes to the age of retirement, like everybody else, and so, she goes on pre-retirement leave, and when the date is up, we see what happens after that. I think there are people within the ranks, who can fill the spot easily. So, we’ll see how it works."

"Of course. A lot of people in that department have good integrity, you know. It’s a pity that the few bad eggs have tainted the bag, but there are a lot of people who have worked hard. I can come up with a name like for example, Deborah Baptist, who’s in fact - I think you all remember that the United States gave her a citation up in Washington last year, or the year before last."
The no-nonsense Locke succeeded former Director Maria Marin in 2016, in a time when the Department was under the toughest scrutiny for corruption and fraud.
