Shyne Sides With Saldivar
posted (October 4, 2019)
He may not be an elected representative, but Shyne Barrow is a fixture at House Meetings. We met the Mesopotamia Standard Bearer at today's meeting and asked him about his recent bold deflation of support for aspiring UDP Leader John Saldivar.

It's significant, because Meosoptamia was a lynchpin for Patrick Faber in the last major inter-party election when he won the Deputy Leadership. But, now Mesop has gone for Saldivar. It's additionally telling because you wouldn't expect Shyne Barrow to go against his own father, party Leader Dean Barrow's choice for leader.

So, big things are happening with Mesop - and today we asked Shyne about his Saldivar support:...

Shyne Barrow, UDP Mesopotamia Standard Bearer
"I was asked the question, who do I support to be the next leader of the United Democratic Party and I said John Saldivar."

Reporter
"Why is that?"

Shyne Barrow
"You know I believe he is the way forward. I have had extensive discussion with him regarding the things that matter to me the most. You know, creating industries, employment, you know, several meaningful topics as to how we are going to go forward, how we are going to continue the tradition of the current Prime Minister but be innovative and creative, adopting to the current necessities of the land and you know he convinced me that his ideals align with mine."

Reporter
"However, you will accept that loyalty is one of the organizing principles of politics that you expect your people to be loyal to you, but you as the standard bearer of Mesop are not being loyal because the last time Mespotamia supported Patrick Faber when he was ascendant as the deputy leader and now you're saying we are switching horse. So if you are not loyal how can other be loyal to you?"

Shyne Barrow
"You are campaigning for Patrick, because I did see your interview with Mr. Willoughby and you bruise them up."

Reporter
"He is easy to bruise."

Shyne Barrow
"Okay, you just like bruise up, it's not personal?"

Reporter
"No sir."

Shyne Barrow
"That's was Michael Finnegan, he will have to tell you for himself what his position is. Right now I am the standard bearer for Mesopotamia and I'm supporting John Saldivar."

Reporter
"It is being said that the 16 of the delegates in Mesopotamia are perhaps not as loyal or as faithful as you might think them to be. It's kind of easy to snipe them off, it is said."

Shyne Barrow
"No one knows who my delegates are right now. Let me just say this whatever decision that I am making, I made in consultation with my predecessors. Mesopotamia in on board collectively."

Reporter
"You sure there are no Mesopotamia mercenaries?"

Shyne Barrow
"It's not a unilateral decision I am making. I am making a collective decision."

Reporter
"Your delegates, can you hold them tight enough? Man is coming for them."

Shyne Barrow
"I did now create the universe, only God can be sure of anything, but again, I support John Saldivar in consultation with my predecessor, in consultation with the people in Mesop and in consultation with the vast majority of my colleagues who feel the same way."

Reporter
"You have known difficulties with NICH, well publicize, one year ago it came to a head. Patrick Faber is the minister of culture with responsibility for NICH. Will this increase don't frictions with an office with which you must work, NICH?"

Shyne Barrow
"I highly doubt that. I don't see. I think we are all mature and this is a democracy."

Reporter
"Right now we are playing to take, Shyne."

Shyne Barrow
"Again, I don't want to cast any aspersions to any of my colleagues."

Reporter
"The office of music ambassador needs funds."

Shyne Barrow
"I was appointed by the prime minister."

Reporter
"But you don't get your disbursements from the minister of finance, the grant goes to NICH."

Shyne Barrow
"You should pose that question to my colleague and let him answer what his position would be."

Reporter
"But you have to watch where you are stepping."

Shyne Barrow
"Absolutely not. This is a democracy."
