On Second Thought...PSU Will Fight For Hilltop
posted (October 7, 2019)
Last week the president of the PSU, Gerald Henry confirmed that the PSU would not be fighting for its Hilltop property in Belmopan. He said it was the consensus of the general membership that they should move on and try to get compensation for what he called "equitable interest" in the property.

But, a release sent out a few hours ago takes things in the other direction. It says, quote, "based on additional information…and sound updated legal advice…the council of management of the PSU has unanimously decided that the matter (concerning the property)…shall proceed to court." End quote.

So, we take that to mean they will fight their pending eviction in court.

But why fight when the title for the property is held by the new owner, which is SIMPLEX Design Company?

The release then gets lawyerly and says "changes in circumstances or one key price of evidence can determine a case…we believe that we have found this critical piece of evidence." End quote.

The release doesn't say what that evidence is, so it ends up as both cryptic and confusing. It then adds, quote, "win or lose, we march on in unity."

That would have been enough to end on a strong note, but then the release concludes by saying, "we are also seeking an additional property to safeguard the continuity and stability of the PSU." End quote, which is also known as the "Trust in God, but tie your camel" approach.

As we have been reported, SIMPLEX has given the PSU 30 days notice before it proceeds with an eviction action in court.
