NEMO Watching Low Pressure Area Off CA Coast
posted (October 10, 2019)

NEMO has sent out what it calls a precautionary notice for a weather system that bears watching.

A broad area of low pressure is hovering right now off the coast  of Nicaragua and Honduras and models predict that it could develop within our region, by the weekend or very early next week. The national hurricane center in Miami says “some development is possible if the low remains over water while moving near the coasts of Honduras, Guatemala, and Belize.â€￾

And even though the national hurricane center only gives it a 20% chance of developing into a system, NEMO says, quote, “at this juncture based on what the models are forecasting (we) prefer to err on the side of caution. Weather systems are very unpredictable and the weather situation can change rapidly especially during the month of October.â€￾ End quote.

NEMO says the models will be better able to predict the possibility for the development of a tropical system and a projected path between today and the upcoming days.

And so, NEMO is just waiting and watching right now, the advice to you is, quote, â€œAll are advised to increase your state readiness for possible tropical cyclone activity.  The NEMO Emergency Hotline is 936.â€￾ Â Ã‚

“NEMO across the country has been placed on alert as we continue to plan for the worst whilst we continue to hope and pray for the best.â€￾ End quote.
