Baby Steps Are Huge For Kyron
posted (October 10, 2019)

For 6 weeks now, 11-year-old Kyron Green has been at Shriners Hospital in Philadelphia. The doctors there have been working with him and his mother, Marsha Belisle, in a major effort at recovery. They’re trying to help him improve his quality of life, and maybe even walk again after his near-fatal shooting back in May.

You’ll remember that Kyron was innocently shot while he was on an errand for his mother. The gunman was aiming at his adult target, but Kyron was injured by a stray bullet, which ended up lodged in his cervical vertebrae.

That immediately threatened to permanently paralyze him from the neck down, but with the collaborative effort of the World Pediatric Project Belize and Shriners Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, he and his mother were flown there. Several days after he arrived at the hospital, the doctors there were able to successfully remove the bullet, which was critical for his recovery.

Well, his mother, Marsha, posted this photograph on her Facebook page. It shows Kyron in a physical therapy session with a member of the hospital staff.

In her post, Marsha said, quote, â€œFour months, and 1 and a half weeks after his incident, Kyron is up walking. It is a long process, but we will continue to push. I am riding with my son to the very end [when] he walks solely on his own… thanks to all those marvelous staff [members] at Shriners Hospital.â€￾
