Man Shot, Did Cops Pull Trigger?
posted (October 10, 2019)

Police have 40-year-old Kenrick Reneau under police guard at the KHMH. They say that they had to pursue him and others in a high-speed chase which ended when they crashed into a lamp post on Linda Vista Street. The cops think that the group was preparing to commit a crime, and that’s why they fled when police came up on them.

It happened before dawn this morning on Linda Vista Street in the Lake Independence area - and it ended when Reneau got shot. Deputy Head of the National Crimes Investigations Branch told us more:

Sr. Supt. Hilberto Romero - Deputy Head, NCIB
"On Thursday, the 10th day of October, at around 05:04 a.m., police personnel were on the George Price Highway, pursuing a black Nissan Murano vehicle. They chase led them to Linda Vista Street, where this vehicle crashed into a lamp post. One person was apprehended near the vehicle, and other persons were seen running some bushes, in a swampy area. Police pursued this person into the swampy area, and they heard one gunshot. They returned fire, and as a result, they apprehended 2 persons in the swamp. One of the persons was identified as Kenrick Reneau, and he had gunshot injuries. This matter is under investigation, and we will have additional details, as the investigation unfolds."

Reporter
"Sir, can you tell us what drew the attention of the police to this vehicle?"

Sr. Supt. Hilberto Romero
"Well, this was a unit that was in the area, and they began to pursue this vehicle when they saw suspicious occupants in the vehicle."

Reporter
"Sir, was there a search of that particular vehicle, and did it turn up anything?"

Sr. Supt. Hilberto Romero
"Yes, the vehicle was searched. So far, we found burglary instruments, steel cutters, and other instruments."

Reporter
"So, you’re basically saying that it appears that they were equipped to commit a crime."

Sr. Supt. Hilberto Romero
"That is what we gathered so far, yes."

Police say that Reneau has an extensive criminal history.
