posted (October 10, 2019)

“Teef and ker’ back“ - it’s one of the most maligned acts in our culture, but that’s just what a Caye Caulker drinker did - and tonight he has a thousand dollar tab to pay because of it.

Gerson Guerra, a thirty-four year old Caye Caulker resident who stole two bottles of liquor then handed himself into the police after he got drunk, and pleaded guilty to theft when he appeared today before Magistrate Emerson Banner.

He was fined $1,000 and he was given until November 1 to pay. If he defaults on payment he will serve 1 year.

The incident occurred on Sunday in Caye Caulker. Business woman Candy Rong reported to the police that while she was in her shop, a man entered and stole one quart of Bailey's and one quart of Absolut and ran. The culprit, who she later identified as Guerra, then went to the beach, drank the Bailey's and vodka, and then went to Caye Caulker Police Station and turned himself in. The Bailey's had a value of $150 and the Absolut's value is $120.
