Ministers Making Moves In Taiwan

On Tuesday's newscast, we told you how Deputy Prime Minister Patrick Faber, and his colleague ministers: Manuel Heredia Jr., and Edmond Castro, were on an official visit to Taiwan. Well, the National Institute of Culture and History has provided a little more insight into how the trip went.

According to a press release from NICH, they 3-member Cabinet delegation was there to conduct official Government business, and to participate in Taiwan's National Day, which was held yesterday.

They also held discussions with Belizean students who are completing their tertiary education in Taiwan. Wani Morgan, one of those Belizean students, received special recognition at the event for his outstanding academic performance.

Heredia, Belize's Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation, also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Taiwan's Minister of Transport and Communication, Chia-Lung Lin, to pursue an Air Service agreement between the two ministries.

Yesterday, Deputy PM Faber personally offered Belize's appreciation and continued friendship with Taiwan, to President Tsai Ing-wen. He also conveyed official congratulations and best wishes to Taiwan for their 108th National Day. Faber also presented President Tsai with a commemorative gold coin from the Central Bank, which depicts Belize's Mayan Heritage, and an original painting from Pen Cayetano.
