Kenrick to Court With Injuries

Kenrick Reneau went to court with multiple injuries today - he says police shot him five times.

Police - on the other hand - allege that that the 40 year old and his accomplice are the ones who fired at them!

Today in court, Reneau and 27 year old Samuel Halliday were charged with four counts of aggravated assault upon a police officer.

It all stems from an incident before 5:00 am on on Thursday, October 10th.

Police got a call about a a burglary in progress, and pursued a Nissan Murrano that then crashed into a lamppost on Linda Vista Street.

They found 32 year old Albert Clother sitting down handcuffed in front of the vehicle with a yellow cutter beside him.

Police set chase after the two men who had run out of the vehicle - and they say they heard shots. Eventually, deep in a swamp police found Samuel Halliday and Kenrick Reneau. Police say Reneau was found soaked with gunshot injuries to his foot and shoulder area.

Corporal Morris Castillo says that while searching in the swampy area he and his personnel were shot at twice and as a result, they returned fire.

In court the two pleaded not guilty and their attorney Ronnell Gonzalez but Chief Magistrate Fraser told him she would not be granting them bail due to the nature of the offenses.
