And, as you picked up in Hiulse's answer, he seemed just a little bit salty about his meeting with the US charge. And he publicly bristled when it was suggested that he had been summoned by the chargé d'affaires:

"Minister, what then would the chargé d'affaires of the US wants to speak to the Minister of Immigration about, to be calling you into a meeting?"

"He didn't call me into a meeting. Please, nobody, not President Trump, nobody could call me into a meeting. I say that publicly and please put it up there. Only 3 people can summoned and let me explain them to you: Her Majesty the Queen, the Governor General of Belize and the Prime Minister of Belize and not another living human being can summoned me."
"He just want to speak about various things concerning immigration. America is always concern and I said to them too I am concern about your policies which you can't get straight and when you get your policies straight maybe we will copy you."
And a clarification the meeting was held at Hulse's office. He said the Americans had been requesting it for two weeks.
