66 Year Old Murdered By Relatives
posted (October 21, 2019)
Five are dead after another weekend of too many traumatic deaths and shooting incidents.

We start with the weekend's only murder. The victim was 66 year old Paul Castillo - who was viciously chopped to death inside his small home on south Street in Corozal Town.

Today, two Belize City men were taken to Corozal Magistrate's court for the murder, and one of the suspects is a relative.

On Friday night, 47 year old Earl Bowden, a plumber from Buttonwood Bay and 38 year old Norman Justo Castillo a tour guide from Belama were socializing with his relative, Paul Castillo when things suddenly took a turn. They beat and chopped up the senior citizen, leaving him dead in his underwear on his bed.

What's more, it seems they wanted to burn the house down - when police got there they smelled fuel. But, they didn't get to do that and police caught the suspects - who hadn;hadn't gotten very far.

Police say neighbors only heard Castillo screaming as he was being killed at around 1:00 in the morning:

ACP Joseph Myvett
"On Saturday last, sometime after 1:30 a.m., Corozal Police responded to an information of someone shouting inside a home on Fifth Street North, Corozal Town, where upon arrival, they found one Paul Castillo, 66 years of the said address, apparently motionless with chop wounds to the body."

"What the police know so far is that Castillo at the time was accompanied by two persons whom just before the police's arrival had left the area and police during their investigation detained two persons who were later charged for the crime of murder. That being Earl Bowden, 47 years of a Belize City address and Norman Castillo, 38 years also of a Belize City address, both for the crime of murder."

"Yes we understand that yes there is a relation between the deceased and Norman Castillo."

They were read the charges in Corozal Magistrate's Court and remanded until December 23rd.
