Man Arraigned For Fatal Accident

Police today told the press that they detained the driver of the SUV that hit and fatally injured Balveno Fermin. Here is the commander of National Crimes Investigation, ACP Jospeh Myvette:

"What the police know so far is that Fermin was eastbound toward Hativille when he was knocked down behind off his bicycle by a black SUV type vehicle that was coming in the same direction. That driver has since been detained pending the investigation into this fatal traffic accident."

The driver is 48 year old Belizean American Stephen Augustine and he was arraigned today on three traffic offenses: manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct and driving without due care and attention.

Augustine had been in police custody since Saturday was released on $6,000 bail. He returns to court on January 7th.
