posted (October 23, 2019)
We'll keep following that case very closely for developments, and in other news…

Last night we told you about the Marin brothers, 17 year old Issac and 22 year old Carlos. The teenager was fatally stabbed while his brother is recovering in the hospital.

It happened in the residence located beneath "I and I Bar" on Caye Caulker, and while last night we reported the story according to the account's of the village chairlady, today police presented a slightly different sequence of events.

ACP Joesph Myvette
"What the police know so far is that Carlos Marin was socializing with a cousin, one Jaime Marin, inside the living room of their home when obviously an altercation ensued, and as a result Issac Marin then got up from where he was to aid his brother and that was when he too was stabbed. The third party Jaime Marin also received stab wounds. He has since been treated at the Caye Caulker polyclinic, and is now in police custody while Carlos Marin was transported to the KHMH where he is in a stable condition."

"We are doing the investigation, recording statements, and preparing the file. We were told at some point that the accused person in this crime had some mental issues so that too will be taken into consideration while the file is being compiled, and that will be sent to the DPP's office for her direction."

Tonight Jaime Marin remains in police custody. He has yet to be charged pending a psychiatric evaluation. Carlos Marin remains at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in a stable condition. It remains to be seen whether Carlos will be charged for the injuries sustained by Jaime during the altercation.
