And that's why, Manzanero says, your doctor should not prescribe brand names, but instead give patients the drug name and let them find the best price:

"Are you getting any complaints from doctors about the prescriptions and having difficulty providing the medications that the want to prescribe and also reports of anyone, people going more and more to Chetumal to find medications when its unavailable in Belize and we've heard people call on the airwaves and some have taken to facebook to complain about this."

"We should not be putting trade names in any prescriptions. We put the generic name and let the patient go and procure the medication that they can afford. We are trying to have everybody comply with the GMP, CPP, COA, because in that way we guarantee that whenever the patient goes to the pharmacy is going to get a quality medication that has met all the standards."
