Early this morning just before 2:00, 27 year old Allan Pitts was driving along with friends coming from the direction of Swing bridge. But it was when they turned onto Alexandria street that Pitts heard 4 gunshots and realized that he had been shot to the shoulder. ACP Myvette told us what Pitts reported to police earlier today.

"Sometime shortly after 1:00a.m. this morning Belize City police was alerted of a shooting on Baghdad street in Belize city whereupon arrival they canvassed the area and were told that the victim had already been taken to the Belize Healthcare Partners. Whereupon moving to the Belize Healthcare Partners they observed one Allan Pitts, 27 years of a Burrel Boom village address with an apparent gunshot injury to his left shoulder. What was reported to the police that Pitts was along with two other persons traveling in a Kia Sorrento vehicle coming from the direction of the swing bridge and was just turning into Alexander street when he heard several bangs that sounded like gunshots and realized that he was shot. As a result he was then immediately to the Healthcare Partners. Police officers have been on the scene since last night. We were back on the scene this morning trying to establish whether or not we could have determined who was responsible for the shooting but so far we have still not yet been able to determine who is responsible."
The Kia Sorrento was shot four times.
