Another day, another nolle pros, and again it’s because the main witness failed to show up.  

In 2015, Ryan Alvarez Jr. known as “Lippo" was accused of killing Edward "Dutch" Robinson.  The 56 year old was collateral damage - because Alavarez was reportedly trying to shoot a gang rival, Jamil "Lado" Betancourt.  

And when Betancourt did not appear in Supreme Court today before Justice Colin Williams for a trial without a jury, the case collapsed and Alvarez’s attorney, Leeroy Banner, submitted that Alvarez did not have a case to answer to. Justice Williams upheld the submission and found Alvarez not guilty. 

At the time of the shooting for years ago, Betancourt gave a statement to the police in which he said that he, Robinson and another person, were standing on the veranda of a house on North Creek Road when a man whom he identified as Alvarez, opened fire from about 15 yards away. Betancourt was shot in his chest and ran behind the house. Robinson was also shot in his chest but he did not survive.
