Faber Says Delegates List Cannot Be Impenetrable
posted (October 24, 2019)

And while Faber hopes that he will be able to campaign openly and directly to those 560 delegates - that really is the key to the February 2020 convention.

Who are those delegates?  And how can standard bearers make sure that they vote for the candidates who that standard bearer supports?

Well, that’s the art off politics, and it is very inexact, a fact which Faber hopes to capitalize on:

Jules Vasquez
"We know that this will not be a delegates list like what you won the deputy leadership on, that was what would be called a peace time list, your friends. Now this is a war time list, it's only family and who you the mind will be on this list."

Hon. Patrick Faber - UDP Deputy Leader
"Jules Vasquez you are speculating. All candidates or standard bearers rely on the people who are the movers and shakers for them within their constituency. Some of them rely on if they have villages, for instance, the village council chair persons, some of them will rely on the people who they know can execute on their behalf. These are as well as delegates, executive committee members, people who are long standing in the constituency to work. So the theory that some may have that a standard bearer and as you put it, one who is being pressured by bigger guns, would then be able to just hand pick a few people, their family members and so on, is to me not a real concept because any standard bearer who does that would be setting himself up or herself up for trouble within the constituency when you ostracized, box out people who are key to your operation. So I am confident that's not something that is going to happen in any kind of large scale operation that can hamper the democratic process. Except Phillip Willoughby who has come on the record to say that he will hand pick them, I hope that the party will deal with that matter because that is completely against the practice of our party."
