SSB Paying For Spike In Dengue

And in other health news, Social Security Board is feeling the cost of increased dengue cases. According to a report in the Guardian newspaper, from January to September of this year there have been 824 sickness claims as a result of dengue. The Social Security Board had made payments of $163,686. Â 

The board states that the highest number of dengue claims that have ever been recorded was in the month of September of this year with a total of 293 claims and the claims keep pilling up. The Dengue related sickness claims for last year were also high. 

The figures for October are being compiled. We will keep following this story. 

Dengue is on a downswing right now, but the figures are expected to increase with the arrival of very late rains this year.
