The victim is 41 year old Nelson Ayuso - a man who was well known in political and public circles - as a solider of the UDP and a television commercial celebrity of sorts. Cherisse Halsall has the story of the short life of the man known as "Rotweilla":

Around 10:20 last night at mile 59 on the George Price Highway Imer Hernandez lost control of his blue GMC Sierra pickup on loose gravel and hit a culvert.

Hernandez's passenger Nelson Ayuso popularly known as Rottweiler died on the spot.

"I'm still in shock of what happened I have not really tried to dig deep into it. I'm still in disbelief state."

"Initially when I heard it I was figuring maybe it was more of a health issue than, you know, and to hear it's an accident is really disheartening and makes you realize that life is so fleeting and we must treasure and love everybody basically that is close to you, nobody knows the minute and hour."

While Ayuso was not a politician he was very close to politicians and was a committed soldier of the United Democratic Party

"I got to known Nelson personally through politics he was always along with the Hon. Gaspar Vega his nickname was basically Rottweiler that what we call him he's basically like a guard dog basically anybody had anything to say about Gape he would be ready to attack so he got the name Rottweiler."

Ayuso was also a musical man

"Loved singing, Nelson loved singing, Nelson was a person I think with one of those bands, Super furia or one of those bands from up north. He was always on stage in September singing, you know, enjoying himself."

"So many fond memories I have a memory with me and him at honorable Gaspar Vega house. We were having a bar b q and he on the microphone basically singing, first time I ever heard him singing and he was in it, when I mean passionately, u know dancing and soulsing while he's singing so he was that type of person. No shame in his game and this is what he does."

And also unashamed of his oversized appetite. He was immortalized in this memorable ad which aired thousands of times.

A heavy set man who will be remembered for his zest for life:

"He no if nor but that was one big guy who made being big a style or fashion. He was very proud and accepting of his weight."

"The Nelson I knew was somebody easy to love, big heavy set guy teddy bear behavior, but he was somebody who was the life of the party, if Nelson was around, it's fun, noise, big mouth, Nelson was always making a lot of noise."

Well known contractor Imer Hernandez - who was behind the wheel - was flung from the vehicle during the accident, and ended up on a pile of rocks. He sustained cut wounds but is listed in a stable condition at a private hospital. He was very close to Ayuso.
