Stole Water Containers From The Cops
posted (October 30, 2019)
He was either really parched or he just couldn't help himself, either way, 60 year old Rafael Cowo will spend 6 weeks in jail for jacking a 5 gallon bottle with water from the 4th floor verandah of the police Prosecution Branch located at the corner of Albert street and King Street. This is Cowo's 7th theft conviction. Today before Magistrate Emerson Banner he pleaded guilty to one of two counts of theft. When asked by Magistrate Banner the reason why he stole the water bottle, Cowo said he was hungry and he had no place to stay. Magistrate Banner told him that he will be sent to Belize Central Prison where he will be assured of a place to stay and he will be fed 3 meals every day. He sentenced Cowo to 6 weeks imprisonment. Cowo stole the water bottle about 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 27. Corporal Carlos Poot, a prosecutor at Magistrate's Court, detained Cowo on Monday when he saw him on the side walk.

Poot was certain that Cowo was the culprit because he was able to recognize Cowo as the person he had seen on the video footage taking the water bottle. Poot said Cowo admitted to him that he stole the bottle with water, which has a value of $25. Cowo's second charge of theft is for allegedly stealing 5 empty water bottles later the same day, from the same verandah on the fourth floor of Prosecution Branch Building. He pleaded not guilty to that charge. He is to return to court on November 20th .
