And form metal-heads to Catholic Youth at the Mission Month Youth Rally and Mass.

Over 2000 students gathered at the Civic Center today for the event. The rally had plenty of praise and worship through song, and theological talks from local and international speakers. We caught up with one student to get her take on the rally's impact on young people her age. Â

Tessa Habet - Student
"I know that Pope Francis is really big on youths so I think that it's good that all the church the entirety of the churches deciding to go along with Pope Francis's wishes to cater to young people and bring them closer to the church."

Abraham Obando - Parishioner, Divine Mercy Church
"It's amazing how this event came together. I spoke to bishop like maybe let's say 4 weeks ago and I asked him bishop what's in your heart for mission month and he said you know I would want to have a big event for our youths. And I go bishop if you want a big event for the youths you should have said it 6 months ago. So I said Bishop what is your budget and he goes we don't have a budget and I go ok lord if you want this event to happen you have to provide for it and Jesus really provided, he has provided everything you see here. We sent out for sponsors and people just opened their heart he just touched the hearts of so many people, to book the venue to get, everything you see here has been sponsored by people with good hearts. Today here we have Pallotti, Saint John's Belize high school, SCA, and from out district we have, Mount Carmel, Saint Ignatius, Our Lady of Guadalupe and then the primary schools from Belize City."

The Mission month youth rally was the brainchild of Bishop Lawrence Sydney Nicasio in support of a papal mandate to make October 2019 a month of mission throughout the world.
