What Will Happen In Months to Come?
posted (November 4, 2019)
And while Saldivar may seem to be comfortably carrying the momentum right now - we are reminded that, in politics, three months are an eternity, and many things can change.

AND, while we saw thousands there on Sunday - ultimately, the decision on who will be the leader will be made by a small number of persons: 560 national delegates.

Patrick Faber and John Saldivar squared off in May of 2016 for the post of Deputy Leader - and Faber got the support of a majority of those delegates.

Saldivar said this time will be different:..

Reporter
"What would you say is different this time around from the last time when you lost against Faber?"

Hon. John Saldivar
"All I can say is the last time is was about the deputy leadership, this time it's about the leadership."

Reporter
"Is Patrick Faber only hope to run a guerilla campaign to snipe off the delegates?"

Hon. John Saldivar
"Well, that might be his only hope, not too sure that that will work this time around. I think we have greater resolve among our cabinet colleagues and our constituency colleagues that we will be doing things differently this time to ensure that we remain united leaders with their constituencies."

Reporter
"We've seen in real time that Boss P is not necessarily with Frank Mena, he declared for himself that you run link him on your page."

Hon. John Saldivar
"That's a story left to be told."

Reporter
"Do you know who the delegates are, because I've heard that no list have been released?"

Hon. John Saldivar
"Some of the constituencies have already released their delegate list and so we are certainly contacting them. Remember that we also have 31-32 delegates from the town boards. We also have another 21 or so from the central executive with who we already know and so we can already begin to target those and of course if you are close to the constituencies as I am with their leaders, I am sure that I have a good idea of who will be the delegates going into February."

Reporter
"Isn't it incumbent on the secretariat or the executive to authorize the release of the delegate's names, in the name of democracy?"

Hon. John Saldivar
"Yes, those that have been declares have already released. We have until the end of December to declare our delegates."
