In news about another accident:...
On Christmas Eve in 2016, media personality Alfonso Noble knocked down and killed Gilbert Myers who was riding a bicycle at mile three on the Phillip Goldson Highway.
Today in the Supreme court he pleaded guilty to causing death by careless conduct. He was fined $6,000 dollars but with a third of that discounted for his guilty plea saving the court's time.
He spoke with the press after and said it has been difficult carrying the weight of this:

"It has been almost three years since this incident happened on the 24th of December, 2016. It has been a source of great consternation for me and I can only begin to imagine what it has been like for the family, living without their primary breadwinner. I am truly sorry for what happened on that night; if I could take it back, I would. Unfortunately I am unable to and I am going to have to live with this for the rest of my life. It's something that…it's simply a terrible instance."
"Under raining conditions, dark at night, the gentleman was riding a bicycle, black shirt, black pants and he is of very dark complexion as well. What can I say? An accident waiting to happen; it happened and it happened to me unfortunately. It is something that needs to be borne by all drivers who find themselves in these situations where they are met with circumstances beyond their control. It is something that I will continue to live with for the rest of my life."

"I'd rather not speak about the compensation because there is no amount of compensation that anyone can give anybody for a death. That is the long and short of it. I will not speak about the quantum. You guys have the information and you do whatever you want to, as you please."
The family of the deceased was compensated by the insurance company for over a hundred thousand dollars.
