Held Up A Furniture Store
posted (November 4, 2019)
Also in Belmopan on Saturday evening, two armed thieves held up Madison Furniture Store. But it seems a passerby who had a licensed gun saw what was happening and fired at the culprits apparently hitting one of them. Police later found the stolen items and a blood stained t shirt on Haulover Street. Police told us more.

ACP Joseph Myvette, Head NCIB
"On Saturday evening shortly before 5:00pm Police were called to the Madison Furniture store on constitution drive in Belmopan where it was reported to them, by the sales clerk, that shortly before 5pm whilst herself and two other employees were inside the business they were approached by two dark complexion male persons one of whom was armed with a handgun while the other person was armed with a knife. They were robbed of their personal belongings and in the process the male person with the firearm fired a shot and someone who was in the area, who is the holder of a licensed firearm fired towards those culprits who then made their escape on foot. Later on the same evening police were called to an area on Haulover Creek street where some of the items stolen during the robbery were recovered including a white t-shirt with a bullet hole and apparent blood stains was recovered from the scene as well. So far all the medical facilities have been checked and no one fitting that description had arrived at any of those institutions or facilities with any gunshot injuries."
