Belmopan police are also investigating an aggravated burglary which happened last night Circle R Rice Belmopan Branch, located at mile 45 on the George Price Highway. 

Some time just before 9:00, one of the Circle R's employees, drove into the compound to drop off the company vehicle. That's when armed thieves - who had been lying in wait - barged in, and tied him up. 

After that, they stole one of the company's cargo trucks, and one of their motorcycles. Police told us today that they had to recover that by this morning, that truck had already made it across the border to Melchor:

"On Wednesday, the 6th day of November 2019, at around 8:50 pm., there was a report of an aggravated burglary at Circle R Rice, located between miles 45 and 46 on the George Price Highway. Police responded where they found Hector Alvarado, who reported that he parked the company vehicle inside the compound, and went to a room nearby. Shortly thereafter, he heard knocks on the door. He opened the door, and he was approached by a male person who pointed a firearm at him. The person proceeded to tie him up, and thereafter, Alvarado heard the sound of engines outside. He managed to untie himself half-an-hour thereafter and then realized that a cargo truck and a motorcycle were stolen from the compound. A report was made. Police conducted investigations, and the cargo truck was recovered across the border in Melchor. An investigation into this matter continues."

"Yes, they stole personal items from Hector Alvarado."

"Were the robbers or thieves wearing masks?"

"I will not disclose that information at this time. We know that 2 persons came to that compound and stole the items."

"Sir, what are the investigators making of the fact that the stolen vehicle ended up across the border?"

"The robbers managed to get the truck across the border. Again, quick police response, it was tracked, and it was recovered from across the border."

Police are looking for two suspects - while the Circle R Branch Manager told us this evening that he was headed over there to get back the truck.
