And so while Montero says it's all about education - we do take note that Faber made a point to attend three groundbreakings in his constituency today. Montero, very notably - did not attend Saldivar's campaign launch - but did attend Faber's one. We asked him about that:
Jules Vasquez "A super majority of the representatives for Cayo, are on the poster with Mr. Saldivar. Do you feel that you are dangerously hanging out on a limb with Mr. Faber?"
Hon. Rene Montero - Area Rep, Cayo Central "I'm not hanging on a limb with anyone. Both Minister Faber and Minister Saldivar are my colleagues. Both of them are my cabinet members and both of them are qualified to lead this nation. It is up to the delegates who are going to vote, it is not the number of people who were there, it is the delegates that are going to make a difference and as I repeat again, these are my colleagues, I'm friend with both of them and whoever wins on that day, we are a united party, we are going to rally behind them because the convention is not important in selecting a leader, most important is for winning the general election in November 2020 when it is called."
Jules Vasquez "So but then, can we assume you are with Mr. Faber's since I saw you at his event and I didn't see you at Saldivar's event?"
Hon. Rene Montero "You can assume anything you know. As I said, both of them are my colleagues and I will rally with whoever becomes the leader of this country because most important, it is the big prize is winning the general elections in 2020 and I will rally with whoever of them win. Both of them are capable and able to run this country."
Jules Vasquez "You just have to say yes or no."
