A Forum For Ending Hunger
posted (November 8, 2019)
The Belize Parliamentary Alliance against Hunger and Malnutrition met this morning at the Marion Jones Complex. They met to better focus and solidify their plan and the legal framework to combat hunger and malnutrition in schools and the wider population. It's difficult task to get all Belizeans on the same page because many are already used to eating all that rice and bread, but change in eating habits can come by early intervention with the youth.

Here's more from the meeting to consider "Food and Nutrition Security for a Healthy Belize."

The garden and feeding program has been rolled out in about 19 schools countrywide so far . Minister Hulse plans on doing a South to North sweep of schools between now and next year August to ensure all schools both primary and high are following through with the child nutrition plan. The end result is for all schools across the country to have their own garden. The Ministry of Agriculture has donated $230,000 to this initiative.
