posted (November 11, 2019)
And an Orange Walkeno was also stabbed over the weekend. But this stabbing happened in Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Quintana Roo - which is 100 miles north of Chetumal.

Carlos Cerilo left Belize on the 28th of October. He had reportedly gone to Quintana Roo to work, however, while there he was brutally attacked. It happened at around 6:00 on Sunday morning. Cerilo was found on the street with a knife stuck in his chest and a cut wound to the neck.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he received surgery. CTV-3 News spoke to his sister Melly Chayash earlier today. She says that the family knows very little about his life in Mexico or the attack but they want their brother and son to be able to recuperate at home.

"Today Monday would have made 8 days since he left. The only thing that we know is that he was going to work. He left the 26th of October that was his last day here and he left last Monday. Last monday I spoke to him around 4:00 and later he spoke to us on Wednesday, which was the last day we spoke to him. Until yesterday when his friend told us about the news story. She was the first that told us. We hadn't seen anything and it was news that shocked us because they said that he was dead. Until we learned that he had been attacked and the way we saw him we thought that he was dead and my mom is sick so we didn't want to tell her. So we tried to find out who could help us who could get information quicker in order to know what had happened. My brother-in-law and my little sister moved and then we found out that they were operating on him he was alright thank God."

"Today we spoke to him he's speaking but he can't speak too much without getting tired. The knife that stabbed him in the chest reached his lung and that's what they're looking after right now thank god his neck is fine. The only thing that we know is that it was an assualt."

"He has a neck wound you can't really see how big it is but by the pictures they're showing on facebook and everything I don't know if it's the whole neck or just a piece. There was a knife stuck in his chest that went as deep as his lung that is what the doctor told us because my mom spoke with the doctor there. His fingers are I don't know if they look like they've been cut but taken off actually no he is only hurt maybe he tried to fight and that's why he's hurt but that's all we know."

They hope to take him out of Felipe Carrillo Puerto and bring him back to Belize as soon as possible for fear that the assailants might return to finish what they started. If you would like to assist Cerilo and his family they can be reached at 639-6209.
