Lexus Torched In Garden City

Police are looking for 2 suspects who lit a man's car on fire in Belmopan.

It happened just before 4 o'clock on Saturday morning. 30-year-old Curlin Flores, a barber of the Piccini area of Belmopan, was at home when his neighbors saw his 2009 Lexus engulfed in flames.

The Fire Department who managed to put it out, but his $30,000 vehicle was extensively damaged.

So why would anyone set a car on fire? The head of the National Criminal Investigations Branch discussed the case with the press today:

"Shortly after 4:00 am police were called to the home of one Curlin Flores on Ben Bluff street in Belmopan City whereupon their arrival they observed a Black Lexus car engulfed in flames what Mr. Flores reported to the police is that sometime around 3:45 am he was alerted by his neighbors that his vehicle, which was parked in front of his yard, was on fire and as a result he got up and came out and then later called the police and the fire department. In relation to this we are following on certain information . Surveillance footage has been viewed within the area and the police are seeking two suspects in relation to this investigation. The motive at this point in time is unknown."
