ASP's Allegation: One too Many Cops Cursed For Wasani
posted (November 18, 2019)
A few months ago Wasani Castro - the son of Minister Edmond Castro - was accused of assaulting a police officer during a cycling race on Regent Street. But, no charges were brought. In 2017, he was also accused of assaulting a police officer, but, again, in that case there were no charges.

But, it seems his good luck or good connections have run out - because today the 26 year old Castro was taken to court for just that: assaulting a police officer - and this time it's an Assistant Superintendent.

Castro and his attorney, Orson "OJ" Elrington appeared before Chief Magistrate, Sharon Fraser in Court #1. He was read three criminal offenses: one count of assaulting a police officer, ASP Irma Anderson, one count of resisting arrest and one count of indecent words to ASP Irma Anderson.

She alleges that on Sunday, she was conducting a patrol on Caesar Ridge Road, when they stopped a white SUV. ASP Anderson saw that the driver was Wasani Castro who she had known for the past 3 years. He allegedly came out of the SUV van and told her, "Uno no know who me. Uno can't do me nothing. Dis dah "effing" Public street, I park weh I effing want." ASP Anderson wasn't having it, and informed Castro of the offense he had just committed, placed him under arrest and that is when Castro allegedly continued to curse and refused to comply with the officer who ordered him to get into the police mobile. According to ASP Anderson, Castro then pushed away ASP Anderson as she tried to detain him. PC's Patt and Eric Mai who were also on patrol in the Caesar Ridge Road area tried to detain Castro and a struggle ensured where the MIT patrol had to come to the officers' assistance. Castro was finally detained and escorted to the Racoon Street police station where he was charged.

In court, Castro pleaded not guilty to all three charges and since there was no objection to bail, Chief Magistrate, Sharon Frazer offered him bail in the sum of $600 plus one surety of the same in which he was able to meet before midday. He is due back in Court #1 on January 6 2020.
