OW Driver Charged For Cyclist’s Death

The truck driver who accidentally crushed a cyclist beneath the wheels of his 10 wheeler went to court today.

31 year old Cyril Valencio, from Orange Walk Town, who knocked down and killed Rudolph Arnold on Monday afternoon, was charged with manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct and drove motor vehicle without due care and attention when he appeared today before Magistrate Khadeem Palmer.

No plea was taken because the offences are indictable and he was offered and met bail of $6,000. His case was adjourned until January 15, 2020.

On Monday afternoon, the 71 year old Arnold was riding his bicycle when he was knocked down at the corner of Central American Boulevard and Caesar Ridge Road near the Port of Belize. Eyewitnesses say Arnold fell off his bicycle before the wheels of the truck ran over his head.
