The Financial Secretary was also asked about his perspective on the health of the country's economy. He noted that while everyone wants to see growth, they are mindful that this year's extended drought has hurt the nation's major industries. Here's are the Fin Sec's comments on that topic:

Joseph Waight - Financial Secretary
"The economy, of course, we would like to see more growth. We realise that the drought has set us back. That will have a revenue impact, and we're still trying to maintain - within budget - trying to generate the surpluses that we need to pay down our debt. The debt still around 90 to 92% of GDP. We're borrowing only on a concessional basis, and we're trying to fashion the spending and the budget to remain within these - to generate enough surplus so that we can pay down our debt."
