5 months Later, Colin Francis Charged For Vasquez Murder
posted (November 22, 2019)
Last night we told you about the bail for Colin Francis - the 28 year old man accused of stabbing Nurse Augustina Elijio and then brutally beating Nestor Vasquez Jr - while he was in police custody. The injuries caused by that attack led to the 60 year old's death two days later.

Nestor's Vasquez Junior's younger brother, Jules held a press briefing yesterday to express dismay and alarm that Francis was out on bail - because he has not been charged for the Vasquez murder - which happened in June.

Well, the DPP's Office and the police department worked quickly - if somewhat belatedly - to change that. The DPP's office issued a directive this morning and Francis was arrested at a relative's home this evening around 4:00. Police have taken him into custody and are charging him for the murder of Nestor Vasquez Jr.

As we have reported, on June 7th, Francis was awaiting arraignment for the Nurse Elijio stabbing, when police officers put Vasquez into Francis's holding cell. Francis beat him viciously - and he never regained consciousness, dying two days later. The officers responsible have been recommended for dismissal.
