Police are also reporting that they have identified the body of a man which was found in the Belize River last Friday morning.
As we told you, at around 8:00, a body was seen floating in the waters just behind the Belize Mills Flour Factory, at mile 1 on the Philip Goldson Highway. When police retrieved the person, they saw a man of Hispanic descent with no signs of injury.
All they had to go on was a tattoo on his arm, but after police circulated pictures of that, his sister came forward and identified him. Here's what Assistant Commissioner Myvette had to say about the case today:
ACP Joseph Myvette - Head, NCIB
"We move to the unidentified body that was found in Belize River, I believe, it was Friday morning. That person was identified as Omar Gomez, 37-year-old, of a Ladyville address."

"Any indications as to how he passed away? Is it that he drowned?"
ACP Joseph Myvette
"At this point in time, we're still awaiting post-mortem results. There were no signs of injuries observed on the body at the time it was found."
As you heard, police currently don't suspect foul play, but a post-mortem examination is pending.
