A 24 year old Neal's Pen Road man has been charged for Zheng Liu's murder. He is Joseph Vacarro. But Vacarro says he did not kill Zheng. In court today, Vacarro admitted that he was at the scene of the crime but says he did not pull the trigger. He says that the two other men lied on him which landed him with the murder charge. As Vacarro was being escorted out of court he made a statement to defend his innocence. The media also spoke to Vacarro's mother who shared similar sentiments and demanded that the police properly investigate the other two suspects.

"I want put on the record that my son didn't kill any Chinese man because it take two finger to kill a louse. And the one that called him out, is the one supposed to be in here. He called him out to gone help tow a vehicle. They are cousins; he was in his bed. They live neighboring. So why did the police officer and the CIB haven't picked up the next person and do the right job that they are supposed to do. 3 men they told me are detained, so why they talk against your son - that's how the system goes. They talk against your son and your son gets charge for that. You supposed to put 2 things together to make one."

"He said he wasn't in the driver's seat. He said when all of this went down I am ready to talk and I am afraid to be killed. He said he is ready to talk the truth and I say we are getting the attorney. But they are pushing around and they don't want the truth. Let me say this: when the incident happened, first thing you see on Facebook is my son picture face up against the Chinese man one. They condemn my son right there. So how my son alone will be facing a murder when he didn't even know the Chinese man. So how did it get out there? You all need to do your job the right way."
Vaccaro was remanded until January 24th, 2020. On a side note, according to our archives and to Vaccaro's mother, he was charged but later acquitted of the 2014 Cayo murder of Victor Vargas. Vacarro's mother believes they are targeting her son since he got off this murder and want to pin Liu's murder on him.
