Another Girl Shot In Her Bed
posted (November 26, 2019)
Another girl has been shot in her bed. Yesterday, we told you about the shooting of a 16 year old - who is still critical - and a one year old infant - who was only shot in the hand, thankfully.

Well, last night it was a 14 year old - making it the third female minor to be shot in their Southside home in 24 hours.

This one happened on Boots Crescent at around 11:00 - when shots were fired at the home where the 14 year old and her 7 year old sister were sleeping.

The victim is Trishell Tillett and she was shot in the arm. Today, the second form student underwent surgery on that arm.

And, it may be another case where the innocent got caught in the middle of gang warfare. Trishell's mother Michelle Lewis told us that the shooting may have caused by young men marking territory.

Voice of: Michelle Lewis, Mother of shooting Victim
"Well some young men came and shot up my house."

"I don't have any reason why. I guess it's just some idle kids you understand me. They know who they are and they know that we know who they are too."

"Now why would they come shoot? They could have taken my daughter's life and she wants something in life they don't want anything."

"Well they shot up my house and they shot right into my daughter's bedroom and shot my fourteen year old daughter."

"She got shot in her hand and her hand got broken, you understand me, but I'd like to ask them why they would come and do something like that because they know us. They've known us for a long time. They see me almost everyday because I know who they are.And they know me."

"We don't have any problem with anybody as far as I know."

Cherisse Halsall, reporter
"And what kind of condition is your daughter in right now at the hospital?"

Michelle Lewis
"She is in a stable condition she had her hand broken."

"Well the young man they need to get up and do something you understand me i know my daughter wants something out of life and the ones who shot my daughter are nobody all they do is stand up all day and smoke weed you understand me instead of trying to go get a job or trying to go to school and trying to take their families out of property you understand me, that's what they should be trying to do."

Trishell Tillett remains at the KHMH following surgery in a stable condition - she is eager to get back to school.
