Taking Persistent Organic Pollutants Out of Circulation
posted (November 26, 2019)
There are chemicals in almost every product we use on a daily basis but there are some acutely toxic ones that affect the environment and your health, those chemicals are called persistent organic pollutants or POPs.

They can be found in pesticides, oils, sprays and household cleaning products among other items. The Department of the Environment along with the Basel Convention Regional Center for Training and Technology in the Caribbean are working on finalizing fresh communication strategies that will be used to educate the public about these harmful chemicals.

The team held a workshop at the Radisson and we stopped by to find out more.

This is the consultation phase and by early to mid-next year the ads and other educational materials will be launched and shared. Belize is one of 8 Caribbean countries who are working on this educational package.
