Belize’s Brightest Young Minds Honoured

Almost 400 students were recognized today at the CXC National Awards Ceremony at The Omar Longsworth Auditorium in Independence Village for the 25th CXC National Awards.

These students are well worthy of recognition having achieved excellence in a long list of CSEC or CAPE exams.

The Chairperson for the CXC National Committee of Belize Dr. Sharmayne Saunders told us how important these achievements are in a student's academic life.

Again, Edward P. York's Alexis Guy earned the top spot and was named the Most Outstanding Candidate. Guy obtained seventeen Grade I's and one Grade II. Not far behind her were her schoolmates, also from EP Yorke: Dayana Marroquin who attained fourteen Grade I's and two Grade II's; and Angie Matute who was awarded Most Outstanding performance in Technical Vocation in the region.

Now for CAPE, Corozal Junior College's Liyan Moralez is the Most Outstanding Candidate for his eight Grade I's and one Grade II. Randel Pate, also of Corozal Junior College was the Outstanding Candidate, meaning he got second place overall. He earned six Grade I's and one Grade II.
