Accident Victim Identified

Police from Stann Creek had a difficult time identifying a man who was knocked down and killed in Santa Cruz Village.

Aas we reported on Friday, at around 5:15 that morning, 37-year-old Woelke Jacobs, a Belizean Mennonite from Unitedville told police that he was blinded by high-beams from a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction, and that caused him to hit a cyclist who suddenly appeared in front of him.

At today's press briefing, the cops told us that they've identified the victim as 48 Guillermo Nunez Gomez a Honduran National of Santa Cruz Village in the Stann Creek District:

Jacobs, was detained this weekend pending investigation, and his vehicle was impounded.
