While DPM Faber is wrapping up that visit in El Salvador, Chief Elections Officer Josephine Tamai is preparing for her trip to Dominica.

According to an online article on Caricom Today, Tamai will head a mission to monitor the general elections in Dominica. The December 6th elections in that island nation will be hotly contested as Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit's DLP seeks a fourth term.

The other members of the mission include experts in Electoral Management and Administration from Antigua and Barbuda; The Bahamas; Barbados; Belize; Jamaica; Saint Lucia; St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Suriname.

The article states "On the day of the elections, the Mission will monitor the electoral process including the opening of the Poll, the voting process, the closing of the Poll and the counting of the ballots. The Election Observation Mission will issue a Preliminary Statement based on its observations and findings."

Tamai has served as Chief of Mission as well as Deputy Chief of Mission for CARICOM Election Observer Missions before. She most recently served as a member of the CARICOM Joint Electoral Reform Mission to the Commonwealth of Dominica in August 2019. The mission departs on December 9th.
