posted (December 4, 2019)
In the past few weeks Contractor Imer Hernadez has become major grist for political gossip, and PUP advertising.

And today his name echoed in the House of Representatives, where the Leader of the Opposition and the Prime Minister spent almost a full hour debating the whether this contractor had received special consideration for a mother lode of special contracts.

Hernandez was also the subject of a statement from the Minister of Works right at the start of the House Meeting. He addressed the widely circulated political gossip that Hernandez had been approved got build the 49 million dollar replacement for the Haulover bridge.

Minister Montero stressed that while Hernandez is in the running, to date, no contract has been signed:...

Hon. Rene Montero, Minister of Works
"To date no contract has been signed for the construction of the new Haulover Bridge. The Ministry of Works is committed to follow the instructions of the Caribbean Development Bank and the Ministry of Finance to stay within the loan budget and will not sign any contract until approval is granted by the Caribbean Development Bank, OFID, CDF and the Ministry of Finance. The contract for the construction of the Haulover Bridge will only be signed after receiving instructions from the lending institution to do so, in this case the Caribbean Development Bank."
